FOOD AND LYCRA

Beyonce once said “Girls, we run this mutha. Yeah / girls we run this mutha. Yeah (2 more times) / who runs the world? Girls! / who runs the world? Girls!”…you get it. We don’t know if she meant running or running it, whatever the “it” may be for you…either way, it was pretty bawse.

Whether you’re a daily running vet or a newbie to jogging, staying healthy is real important. So you know, like, do it. And whilst you’re at it, look good as you breeze by!

Meet Kimmayco, Supernoodlerach & Seraphizm (not their real names unfortunately, in case you were wondering): the running/fashionable/world travelling trio who are quite a known name on these social medias.

FOOD AND LYCRA

With a collective Instagram following in the thousands with imagery of stretchy yoga positions on beaches, footwear snapping deadstock kicks that put our trainer collection to shame or staying true to the #foodporn movement with an array of meals you don’t want to see on an empty stomach, it’s safe to say the girls are about that life.

FOOD AND LYCRA

Taking all of that following, they’ve only gone and started to document their amazing journey in blog form with Food & Lycra – covering all these areas, plus much more!

We wanted to have a chat with them. So, with the weather (hopefully) getting warmer and all, who better to ask about how one can get their jog on in style? They have a dig through our Urban Outfitters range and pick a few choices to help inspire your workout outfit! Click the pics to shop their tips…

Over the years I have converted my sportswear from the plain old “all black errthang” to bright, loud and out there! When I get new workout gear I look forward to running twice as much, it definitely adds to the fun.

BamBam Paradise leggings
FOOD AND LYCRA

I love leggings with bright prints on them, I use them to run the city roads or for yoga. These paradise leggings are perfect for just that! They remind me of beach sunsets from our trip to Central America, helping bring those vibes to the UK for the summer.

Iro Laser Cut Tee
FOOD AND LYCRA

Bringing back the days of wearing string vests and sports bras, except this time we take it up a notch- these holes are laser cut! I love that this top is made of cotton as running requires light breathable clothing and the laser cut holes make this extra cool!

When I run I need to be comfortable no matter what I wear. If something feels wrong I won’t let it go and it will stay on my mind throughout the run. I’m a huge cotton fan when it comes to tops and for bottoms I like my shorts for summer and lycra/polyester the rest of the year. I usually express my personal style with my running outfits. I like patterns, messages, graphics and bright colors. When you do a race or even on training mode you have to stand out. It gives me that extra bit of confidence.

Adidas Original Polka dot Shorts.

They’re so cute and when the warmer season comes I usually give my legs a breather (especially now that they’re tanned and toned ahaha)

FOOD AND LYCRA

I’m a polka dots and cotton lover so this is a the perfect combination for me. The banded waist with contrast drawstring will maintain the shorts in place while I run. No more falling down…yeaaaahhhh!

Junk food Keith Haring NY tee.
FOOD AND LYCRA

I love Keith Haring and New York. I love everything about him and the Big apple. He’s the icon of urban art. This is a really cool cotton tee. Once I roll up of the sleeves I’m ready for my weekly urban run through the city. I like men’s size for extra freedom as I don’t wear tight clothes when i train/run. I like when it falls nicely on my shoulder and cotton will always feel nice. Can’t go wrong.

Running in clothing which is both comfortable and stylish is key to building up your confidence especially as a fairly new runner – if you are going to sweat it out, you might as well look good doing it!

Adidas Bone Print Leggings.
FOOD AND LYCRA

Every other pair of running leggings are black…and boring. We are always on the lookout for eye-catching leggings from our favourite brands to wear for our regular runs – leggings which make you remember the Foodand Lycra girls! Adidas’s Bone Print leggings are great because they will make you stand out during your city runs and are versatile enough to not look like “running leggings” when you’ve finished.

Stussy Cheetah Tank
FOOD AND LYCRA

I am all about clashing prints and dipping into a guy’s wardrobe! This Stussy Cheetah Tank is lightweight and loose enough to keep me feeling cool and looking cool (LOLZ). Teamed with the bone leggings, this will complete the running in London’s Urban Jungle look.

Nike Free Run Trainers FOOD AND LYCRA Kimmayco
The trainers I run in are so important on so many levels. They need to fit right, look good and support me fully. Nike Frees are great for shorter distance runs for me. The fade on the sole makes this one pop out, and I don’t seem to be the only fan of these either!

Seraphizm
Nike Free run are the most comfortable shoes to date. They are great to run in. They help me increase the strength of my foot and my ankle. My stride is so much stronger. So easy to wear everyday. Breathable, lightweight and stylish. The perfect shoe for a nice and easy summer run.

SuperNoodleRach
These Nike Free Run’s are great for shorter distance runs, and they match the bone leggings! The two-tone midsole adds character to the shoe and the mesh material increases airflow, making the shoe breathable – perfect for those summer runs.
