SNEAKER FREAKSAugust 8, 2013
The folks who work in our stores are a pretty trendy bunch, with some seriously enviable wardrobes. So we had a bit of a nose around and found 12 guys who definitely have a thing for trainers – we’re talking everything from Converse to Jordans, no sole was left untouched!
With such an awesome collection of kicks, it would be rude not to share them, so we took some cheeky snaps and got the lowdown on all the trainer talk. Okay, some of these collectors may be bordering on obsessive but we’re not ones to judge – we’ll leave that to you!
If you feel like joining the crep crew, why not check out our awesome kicks online?

Trainer of choice: Nike Air Max.
Tell me more: I lost 15 pairs of trainers to damp and mould in my old flat – R.I.P. I’m a firm believer that shoes are meant to be worn not kept box-fresh like some people do! I nicknamed my favourite shoes the Puffin’ Purps’… don’t ask.
Trainer of choice: Air Jordan 6, “retro 2009 release”.
Tell me more: My favourite 3 Jordans are easily worth over £1000 – some people might say I have a problem…
Trainer of choice: Adidas Jeremy Scott, Beverley Hills Edition
Tell me more: My favourite double act is my Adidas Decade High Top, New York Nicks Edition and my signed basketball vest from none other than Amare Stoudemire!
Trainer of choice: Air Force 1’s (spray painted green).
Tell me more: I love sneakers so much that even if they don’t fit, I still have to have them – I’d choose style over comfort any day! I’ve had my Air Force 1’s for over 10 years and they may not be my nicest pair, but we have gone through a lot together. They used to be navy and rather boring, so I spray painted them myself, so now they’re some shade of minty green and in desperate need of another paint job!
Trainer of choice: Nike Air Current.
Tell me more: I love my Nike Air Currents because they are just so comfortable and minimal, they don’t even need a “Swoosh” to look like Nikes – they just do it!
Trainer of choice: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star High.
Tell me more: I’ve got trainers from some exciting places like New York and some not so exciting like TK Maxx! I’ve sacrificed a lot for my trainers; on the last day of a trip to New York I was forced to go without a hot meal because I’d spent all my money on Nike 6.0 High Dunks- my boyfriend was not amused!
Name: Ted Wiles
Trainer of choice: Spring Court G2.
Tell me more: My collection is focused solely (please excuse the pun) on one brand and one model of trainer – the Spring Court G2. Spring Court trainers were originally designed in France in 1936 for playing tennis. John Lennon (one of my heroes) is wearing a white pair on the cover of Abbey Road and the design has hardly changed over time.
For seven years they are the only trainers that I have bought and worn. I was very sad to find out in 2012 that my preferred colour choice- military green with gum sole- has been discontinued with no intention to bring it back (despite my monthly enquiries). It was with much solace that I bought an all-black pair of G2s. It is my intention to only wear Spring Court G2s for the rest of my life.

Trainer of choice: Nikes or Vans.
Tell me more: Growing up I couldn’t always get my hands on the latest kicks, so I’m more than making up for it now! My trainer collection is pretty vast but if you add shoes into the mix my collection would more than double in size.
