BEACONS COUNTDOWNAugust 14, 2013
Just a few more days until we’ll be fully reppin’ at this year’s Beacons Festival! We’re totally stoked about our Urban Outfitters chill out tent, and here’s why…
We’ll have guest DJs on the decks all day everyday to bring you some festival tunes.
Roll your sleeves up! Print screening legends Hit + Run crew will guide you through how to make your very own Beacons tote bag.
We’ll have an Urban Outfitters pop-up store to supply you with festival essentials. Need an outfit for Fancy Dress Friday? Well what’s more fitting than a Kigu?
Keep your eyes peeled for our #UOBeacons photo competition – you could win £150 to spend in store when you snap yourself in yourself in our UO tent.
And when your festival legs are feeling a little weary, you can come crash on our comfy sofas and soak up some chilled vibes!
Not going to Beacons? Don’t worry about it, you can watch all the action live on our Instagram HERE #UOBeacons
Now here’s some top tips on what to see and do…
We’re stoked to see Spanish DJ and producer John Talabot tear up the decks at Beacons! We were hooked way back in 2010 after his breakthrough release ‘Sunshine’- check it out below…
All new to Beacons 2013, the Futuredisco-Dance Off is the perfect place to throw some shapes on the D-floor and get into the groove. We’ll be there at the Beacons Social on Friday night busting out the electric slide and a cheeky hand jive – you don’t want to miss it! Oh and did we mention that the best movers and shakers could win a life time of free tickets to Beacons…
Northern Ireland duo Bicep have definitely been throwing their weight around the dance scene for a while and we can’t wait to witness the fitness at Beacons!
SODA_JERK TAP HOP AND THE POPULAR FRONT
This year, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for pop-up projections appearing and disappearing across the Beacons’ site throughout the festival weekend! The campsite will be lit up with videos, animations and graphics from both local and international artists, just like Australian duo, Soda Jerk. We can’t get enough of their video ‘Tap Hop,’ an epic dance throw-down, set between the past and the future. Check it out below…
We’ve definitely caught the love bug! Brothers Rory and Eoin Loveless are one fierce double act. With little more than a guitar, a drum kit and a mic, the boys are taking rock ‘n’ roll back to basics.
While we’re wandering around Beacons, we’re hoping to bump into Harrison Richards, A.K.A The Perceptionist. Known for his outstanding feats of mental perception, ability to solve a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded and crazy mind-reading skills we can’t wait to put him to the test!
What’s not to love about rapper Danny Brown? Sick flow. Check. Awesome collabs. Check. Rad haircut. Double check!
THE YESS MEN FIX THE WORLD
Over the weekend Beacons will air a ton of edgy films but we’re particularly looking forward to watching ‘The Yes Men Fix The World.’ Think Brüno meets Michael Moore, The Yes Men Save the World is a screwball true story about two gonzo political activists who, posing as top executives of giant corporations, lie their way into big business conferences and pull off the world’s most outrageous pranks. Check out the trailer below…
We’ll be front row to see the simple charms of American musician and songwriter, Mikal Cronin!
MYTHICAL CREATURES BY NATALIE MUIR
Hidden amongst the Yorkshire Dales landscape of this year’s Beacons Festival, Artist Natalie Muir has created a series of magical light sculptures. Working in recycled and economical materials, Muir’s translucent fairytale creatures are definitely something to look out for this year!
Toto, Sasha, Thomas and Jacob formed Splashh in East London last year and have since made some pretty impressive waves in the UK music scene! Inspired by the likes of Pixies, New Order and Deerhunter – Splashh have perfected stoner rock.
FANCY DRESS FRIDAY
Beam me up Scotty, it’s time to go back to the future! This year’s Fancy Dress Friday theme is (drum roll please) FRONTEIRS OF THE FUTURE – so think space suits, disco robots and extra terrestrial beings.
Let’s do this!
