BACK TO SCHOOL!August 16, 2013
The first day of school is always daunting – but team that with a questionable hairdo and a fanny pack, well then it could be seriously frightening!
At Urban HQ, we’ve dug up all our old cringey snaps from our first days and we haven’t stopped crying with laughter. We’re taking absolutely no responsibility for our fashion sense; we were too young to know any better – our parents on the other hand…

I can’t remember a single moment from my first day at school. But it seems I thought Macaulay Culkin had a strong look at the time…

On my first day of school I decided to change my name to ‘S.R. Barbie Girl’ admittedly it isn’t that catchy but I kept it for 4 years!

All I remember from my first day at school is the Walnut Whip choccie reward at the end of the day and thinking “I could get used to this sailor uniform!”

I wanted to dress myself for my first day at nursery and promptly forgot to put on my underwear. It dawned on me when I sat down for my first assembly that I had forgotten my briefs! I was so upset by it that my Mother had to pick me up, as my teachers couldn’t calm me down. My Mother bribed me to go back the next day with a new box of Lego!
My first day of school was probably totally awesome. I was pretty accident prone… I remember coming home with an orange fringe once.

I was the only one who didn’t cry because their mum left them on their first day at school. I cried because she took away my cuddly toy.

Don’t really remember anything about my first day at school apart from this pic being taken and the smelly soup they had!
I was just hoping that my Thomas The Tank Engine gloves wouldn’t go unnoticed on my first day at school!

I can remember going into school with an incredible Power Rangers watch my Dad got me on holiday, but as soon as I stepped into the building it fell apart along with my heart. I ran out screaming for my Dad.
Marketing Project Manager
I was clearly terrified. I’m just hiding it well.

I don’t remember my first day at school but I do remember that I wasn’t a fan of my dad’s packed lunches. I used to bring them home and hide them in my drawer in my bedroom. Imagine the surprise my parents got when investigating “that funny smell,” weeks later they opened my drawers to find a collection of uneaten mouldy sandwiches in foil. Yikes!

I don’t remember much … I had to call my Mum to ask. So, according to her I was the cutest kid in the entire school. I was looking forward to go to school (so naïve) but mostly I was happy because I had a new bike. This cone-shaped thingy in my Grandfather’s hands is a “Schultüte”, something kids get on their first day of school. It’s filled with sweets, stationery stuff and (in my case) loads of Lego.

In my early school days, a good day was a day I didn’t pee my pants!
My recollection of my first day at high school is being red faced, not being able to control my limbs properly, choking on my own spit and wanting to cry when anyone spoke to me. Little has changed.
Senior CRM Manager
I couldn’t wait to start school and hear how everyone had spent the long Italian summer! And, as you can see, I really loved my Mum’s packed lunches!
