IN DA HOUSE: CHARLOTTE ARTHUR

In Da House is back – nosing through the keyhole at some unique and original Urban homes.

Last year we broke into explored the vintage den of Head of U.S Decorative Home, Christine Doobinin, a pretty chic crib owned by VM manager Kate Blower, and the East London Dutch barge boat of Social Media man Simon Smith.

Feeling homely? Click HERE and check out all our new Urban homewares!

For the glorious return we bring you the home of Visual Merchandise Manager Charlotte Arthur from UO Spitalfields. VHS hoarding and vintage clothes galore…

UO: Hi Charlotte. What’s the best thing about living in your house?

CA: The best thing about my house is all the girls I live with – otherwise it’s just like any other home! It’s unbelievable how much stuff we have managed to cram into it – the storage just keeps on giving.

UO: You room is like walking into a vintage store. Who or what has influenced your style?

CA: My Mum and Dad have probably been the biggest influence – my Dad has given me half the clothes that I own. I think my biggest problem is that I love anything and everything – probably why my wardrobe is so vast!

UO: What are your 5 favourite pieces in your wardrobe?

CA: My five fave clothes…
Purple Maxidress (from Dad)
Gaultier Bomber (my Mum’s)
Mexican dress (Urban)
Dog shirt (from Dad)
Blue sequin top (from Dad)

UO: So…nice organ…where did you acquire that?

CA: My organ is from ebay and it’s the best £5 I’ve ever spent! I also have a piano, a Casio keyboard, a Melodica and a miniature accordion – but I need to fix the hand straps for that.

UO: Elvis fan?

CA: MASSIVE Elvis fan, though nothing compared to my Mum. We’re still yet to make it to Graceland.

UO: That’s a lot of VHS…what do you watch the most?

CA: My favourite VHS would have to be Strictly Ballroom or the Golden Girls recorded off of TV years back. We were very kindly bought a brand new VHS player recently, so we can watch them all again.

UO: Which Golden Girl would you be?

CA: I would love to think I was Blanche but I reckon realistically I’m more of a Dorothy. I don’t know… that’s too hard!

UO: We love this question. Your house is on fire! (don’t worry its not) You can only grab five things to take with you…what do you take???

CA: House on fire I would save:
Great Grandma’s perfume
Strictly Ballroom vinyl
Pic of my Mum and Dad
Prada shoes
I forgot the other thing! Oops!

UO: What’s the story behind this teeny tiny doll with the beehive?

CA: My mum bought her back from Barcelona, such a cutie

IN DA HOUSE: CHARLOTTE ARTHUR

UO: Can we talk about your first pair of trainers?

CA: My first trainers! Lucky me, I would love to be able to squeeze my toes in them still!

UO: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

CA: If I could live anywhere it would have to be London! BORING but true. As long as I could be somewhere sunny with a beach for half of the year.

UO: What’s your favourite dance move?

CA: My favourite dance move? Everything flaying about at once – or I do enjoy just wriggling about.
