AUTUMN CATALOGUE: TRÄDGÅRDENSeptember 3, 2013
Straight outa’ Stockholm – our new Autumn catalogue has finally landed.
We’ve got some tales to tell about our journey to this fine Swedish City – exploring the stories behind our unique shoot locations. Get your groove on at the amazing outdoor club Trägården.
Situated under the hard concrete bridges on the eastern bay of Lake Mälaren, this multi-room arty hangout is where the Swedish socialites come to enjoy Europe’s hottest underground DJs. Not in the party mood? Heck, you can just chill out too!
We headed down to get fully involved in the party action. Meeting up with Trägården owner Jakob along the way.
UO: What’s Trädgården all about?
J: Trädgården started back in 2003, in a different location near the city centre. We had a big open space there too, but we wanted a place for people who didn’t particularly want the city centre feel.
We found this spot in 2008 and mixed up music with fashion and art, putting it together with the whole experience of hanging out in a back garden.
UO: What’s the music scene like in Stockholm?
J: The scene here is pretty random. Rap is pretty big, then you have the whole house scene moving in, plus there’s always been a rock attitude with all the live bands that play here.
UO: Tell us about the different rooms…
J: The main area, the outside part, is more of the indie stage where people grab a beer and hang out. The burger bar is for people who want to chill and grab a bite to eat. We have a small techno room that fits about 50 people inside, plus a restaurant for the older folk too.
About 80% of the nights we have here are Swedish line-ups, but every week we have our Friday sessions when we invite bigger electronic and techno acts to play.
UO: What’s the craziest night you’ve had here so far?
J: There was one day when we had nearly 6,000 visitors; people were trying to bribe their way in at the entrance. It was a long queue.
UO: If you just had one more night to throw a party in Trädgården – as in the very last event, what would you do?
J: I’d invite all my friends and tell them to do whatever they want. I’d probably bring some surprises that would light up this bridge.
