From Miami Beach to Paris, we bring you a series of alternative city guides to steer you off the beaten track.
In preparation for electro-festival The Peacock Society (win tickets here FYI) – we asked style blogger Manofakind to give us his top tips on where to visit in gay Paree. Over to you, Man…
Looking to enjoy something spicy and exotic? Mi-Va-Mi is one of the best – if not the best – Falafel street restaurants in town. Situated in the charming Jewish area of le Marais, this colourful and highly popular restaurant will be your new best friend. You’ll want to check out the coolest stores nearby, too.
Address: 32-34 Rue des Rosiers, 75004 Paris
Always hunting for new scents, I recently discovered Histoires de Parfums; a cool and refreshing Perfume store. Located just a few blocks from the new Urban Outfitters BHV store, the boutique mixes perfumes mise en scene with incredible art installations. Their two Men’s bestsellers are called “Jules Vernes” and “Hemingway”. Which one will you be?
Address: 11 rue du roi doré, 75003 Paris Paris
Croissants, pain au chocolats, escargots and baguettes; you’ve been dreaming about it and will be pleased to hear they’re not short of French boulangeries in Paris. But nothing beats the classic American cheesecake, right? Situated in the fashionable, artsy area of Paris, a little bio-juicy-pastry shop called Plan B serves the best cakey-snacks with incredible fruit juices.
Address: 32 rue Debelleyme, 75003 Paris, France
By far, Le Café Charlot is our favourite hot spot in Paris. Not only do the cool kids and most of the fashion industry meet here, the vibe is always super cheerful too. With a Caesar salad to die for – and an amazing hazelnut ice cream – I highly recommend this place if you want to end up eating next to actor Jean Dujardin or singer Tinnie Tempah. Comfortable and so very French, you won’t be disappointed.
Address: 38 rue de Bretagne, 75003
Never tired of Italian cuisine, Grazie is a special address when it comes to delicious pizzas. (I recommend the truffle). It has a trendy atmosphere and you’ll enjoy an evening surrounded by the best crowd in town.
Address: 91 Boulevard Beaumarchais, 75003 Paris
