COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEKAugust 12, 2014
In the sixth edition of Collective, we set our gaze upon denim, the fundamental wardrobe staple, and explore the characteristics of clean and minimal style.
To discover the latest incarnations of this uncomplicated style, we sent Marianne Theodorsen (Styledevil) to Scandinavia, the home of minimal fashion, and asked her to snap away on the streets during Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Hey, I’m Marianne. I’ve been roaming the streets of cities such as Paris, Milan, London and New York Since 2008 – documenting the seriously cool outfits that walk my way. This season, I made my way over to Copenhagen, searching for the one thing that never goes out of fashion – denim.
Copenhagen is one of my favourite cities; I just love the way the Danes combine Scandinavian minimalism with sporty details, so I was excited to see their take on such a true classic. Just as I expected, they were effortlessly cool, showcasing an astute eye for detail and a love for vintage pieces that ooze personality.
The classic skinny jean, a style we´ve seen so much of in the past few years, appeared to be far less prominent. Instead baggier silhouettes, particularly boyfriend and mom jeans, seemed to be the latest trend for Copenhagen’s most avid fashion followers.
Here are some of my favourite outfits.
You can never go wrong with ripped boyfriend jeans and a simple tee.
I love it when people take an old piece of clothing and make it into something new. Crop-top made from cut-off dungarees? Yes please.
I love a good romper, and if worn the right way it looks oh-so-chic. I loved this combo of light and dark denim. Plus, this girl is adorable.
A new way to wear your denim jacket. More like an accessory than a piece of clothing. I absolutely love it.
Cut-off vintage jeans with Oxford brogues is actually one of my favourite combos. Trés cool.
Simple, but far from boring. It´s all in the details, and those jeans are just too cool.
Denim on denim on denim – you can never wear enough of the stuff… as long as you do it the right way.
One of my absolute favourites is grey denim. I daresay it goes well with absolutely everything.
Now this is how you wear a denim shirt. The crinkle with rough edges is what caught my eye. Looks random, but I bet it isn´t.
