ARTIST OF THE WEEK #2 – RUBY HEARTSeptember 12, 2014
With a truly unique style in merging tattoo inspiration with graffiti methods, 24 year old artist ,Ruby Heart (AKA Harriette Dunn), was the perfect candidate to take over our changing room wall at UO Oxford Street. The video, a project by students from the London College of Communication, is a creative feat in itself – a visual ride through this mural process.
“I have been fascinated by the tattoo industry since I was 11 years old and made it my mission to get involved in my local tattoo scene. I eventually made my way to apprentice in studios in Liverpool and Leeds – this experience developed my style in traditional and neo-traditional massively.
It wasn’t until 2013 when I first took to spray-painting and graffiti – this form of art has given me a new medium in which to express my illustration and tattoo designs, and has attracted a wide range of interesting and fulfilling commissions.
I like to stick to my traditional and neo-traditional tattoo style when drawing character pieces. The piece in store was a mix of my inability to draw women from front on, and a morbid obsession with the plague.” – Ruby Heart
