FUTURE NOISE : ANTONY & CLEOPATRA

May 29, 2015

If you’re hoping we’ll start this feature about electronic music duo Antony and Cleopatra with a clever allusion to Shakespeare’s play of the same name, you’re out of luck. We haven’t read it. Even the Wikipedia page about it was TL:DR, so here we are. Not making any medieval drama references. And why would we? This is a blog article about electronic house music.

This is the story of Antony and Cleopatra, as we know it. Act one starts with Anita Blay (of CockNBullKid) and Alexander Burnett (of Sparkadia) sitting down together for a pop writing session. It goes wayward. ‘80s American house influences start creeping in. Diva vocals start soaring over classic rave breakbeats. Garage basslines enter stage left. A naughty saxophone solo happens.

The story grows with banging collaborations with Lancelot, Beni and house maestro Sammy Banana, and before you know it, you have the makings of a deep-housey electronic sensation. Play on.
