UO DIY: GEOMETRIC PILLOW

October 29, 2015

The lovely textile designer, Julie Robert who showed us how to customise the UO cat cushion, returns with a minimalistic design for the geometric pillow. Pick up your needle, get crafty and customise! Over to you, Julie…

For this second DIY project with Urban Outfitters, I chose to customise the geometric pillow. I picked a really quick and simple Scandi-influenced design. See below my easy two-step guide!

You will need:

Embroidery and sewing thread
Wool pom poms or 2 meters of pom pom braid
Medium embroidery hoop
Scissors
Sewing Needle

1. Start to sew the pom poms and leave a gap of roughly two finger spaces between each one (there is approx’ 10 pom poms per side).

2. Then, for a minimalist style choose two triangles on the cushion you’d like to sew. Place the embroidery hoop and embroider the lines from top to bottom in the way you want. The pillow case is made of strecth jersey, so when you remove the embroidery hoop there will be a “relaxed” feeling with the stiches, but when you put the pillow in everything will tighten!
