WHAT’S ON: NOVEMBERNovember 3, 2015
Now that Halloween is settled up and sitting out the game, we’re more than ready to embrace all things festive and sparkly. Don’t judge us. We’re throwing ourselves into the cold weather with gusto at the prospect of mulled wine, open fires, hot chocolate and all that goes hand in hand with the cold season. This month, our highlights include a wigwam forest on the rooftop of Queen of Hoxton, the Hyper Japan Christmas Market that promises to be all sorts of cute and an exhibition about our favourite literary heroine, Alice in Wonderland at the British Library.
Mulled Wine Festival
Mulled. Wine. Festival. Is there anything you’re not liking the sound of? For three days, Covent Garden will smell like a vat of hot, mulled, alcohol, which we certainly aren’t complaining about. From cider to mead, to ice-cream(?) to sweets and jelly shots and lots and lots of wine….see you on the flipside.
Covent Garden | 12th – 14th November | Free event
Alice in Wonderland at The British Library
Celebrating 150 years of Alice in Wonderland, The British Library is putting on an Alice exhibition to celebrate all things weird, fantastical, trippy and oozing with literary fabulousness. They also have an Alice pop-up shop outside the exhibition, which looks set to steal all our pennies.
20th November – 17th April 2016 | The British Library, 96 Euston Road | Free
Winter Cabin at York & Albany
Gordon Ramsay’s The York & Albany is embracing the chill in the air with a winter cabin pop-up. Despite its location on the perimeters of Regents Park, you’ll feel as if you’ve landed in the heart of a Scandinavian forest (albeit with patio heaters). Wrap up in your faux fur and prepare to sip hot chocolate cocktails. Try out a delicious sharing menu brimming with game and wild boar burgers.
127 – 129 Parkway, closest tube – Mornington Crescent / Camden Town
Opening times: 4pm-11pm, daily | More info here
Underground Film Club
When it’s too cold to watch your favourite films on the roof, go underground. Book a beanbag to watch a cult classic at The Vaults in Waterloo for a wintry mid-week treat. Sip away at a cocktail from Spirited Mixers or chow down on some street food while you watch your flick.

Forest on the Roof
Head on up to the fifth floor of Selfridges this season and dine in a forest. Well, not really, but it’s a close approximation with fairy lights, lanterns and a lot of trees. The menu features a seasonal selection of hotpots, truffled mushroom risotto and hot toddies.
Selfridges, Oxford Street | Tickets here
The event that characterizes November is the celebration of Guy Fawkes Day with a spectacular show of fireworks. Luckily, London has more displays than you can shake a stick at, including shows at Alexandra Palace, Battersea Park, Blackheath, Crystal Palace, Victoria Park and a whole lot more.
Hyper Japan Christmas Market
Think popping colours, sparkles, an abundance of cute and more colour. The Hyper Japan Christmas Market is back this November celebrating Japanese culture and cuisine at its finest. From clothes and cute toys to sushi, teas, chocolate and snacks, you’ll have a blast.
Tobacco Dock | 27th -29th November

Cider Tasting at Queen of Hoxton
Who doesn’t want to kick back in a wigwam on a rooftop in Shoreditch? For winter 2015, Queen of Hoxton rooftop bar has embraced a fairy tale theme with an edible gingerbread bar inside a tree-packed wigwam. Cool. Throw some wintry cocktails into the mix and you’ll be rolling merrily home.
