RAIDERS OF THE LOST ‘ROBEOctober 1, 2012
As our Exclusive Takeover kicks off, we thought it’d be fun to boldly go where no one has gone before – into the wardrobes of one of our buying team. We were scared, but we had to do our duty and bring you all the best bits back…
Hi Veronica, great name!
What’s your job title?
Buyers Admin Assistant Intern
And what does that mean?
I work on womenswear and assist my buyer in everything from trend research to clothes fittings and ordering clothes to looking after samples… anything and everything to help the department run as it should and get our range of clothes into store and online!
Give us a typical work day in your life…
So I get up and normally do my makeup on the tube (not a good idea at rush hour!), then when I get in to the office someone always does a coffee run. Every day’s different, so sometimes I’m glued to my desk whilst others I’m out and about looking at what’s going on on the high street! Working on Oxford Street is difficult though, because I’m always shopping on my lunch break when I shouldn’t be!
On a scale of one to full, how full is your wardrobe?
I’d say it was full!
And what percentage of that is Urban?
Ummmm 75% maybe??
Do you have any kind of wardrobe filing system?
I try to, but it’s kind of an organized mess…
How often do you shop?
Pretty often, I’d say weekly minimum.
Sum up your style…
I wouldn’t say I fit a particular style but I’m not very girly. I tend to wear clean cut or basic clothes but with a lot of jewellery or good shoes, and I wear a lot of Urban Renewal!
What are your favourite Urban brands for girls?
I’m definitely a BDG girl – I have all the denim, a good pair of jeans is a must-have! But then I also love Silence and Noise too. I love Evil Twin, which is a brand we stock. I have so many of their shirts – they’re amazing!
What pieces of clothing can you not live without?
I live in trainers, I have way too many, and my high-waist black acid wash BDG jeans are so easy, they go with anything.
You’re a girl in the know – what’s your top tip for the season ahead?
Well, like most girls, I’m excited to get my winter coat! I guess I’m going to get into velvet and plaid over the next few months ready for Christmas… and definitely a good Christmas jumper!
Are you a plan-it-the-night-before girl or a spur-of-the-moment type?
Spur of the moment for sure…
What are your favourite colours to wear?
And your favourite music?
I’m into Jessie Ware’s new album at the minute but it changes every week.
Whose style do you love?
My friend Emma. I don’t know how she makes charity shopping look so easy. And my mum in the 80’s – she was so cool!
We’re gonna need to hear about some style errors you may or may not have made once upon a time…
I used to have black hair and an orange fringe. Don’t think I need to say anymore about that…
What’s your most treasured clothing possession?
I’ve got an amazing Adidas top covered in sequins, everyone’s so jealous of it!
Do you wear a lot of jewellery?
I wear about 15 rings between both hands every day so I’d say I do
And what kind of make-up do you wear?
I wear red or orange lipstick, red blusher and black eyeliner – and always have fun nails!
It’s been lovely to meet you!
