ANTWERP: A DAY OUT ON INSTAGRAMOctober 9, 2012
Antwerp is lovely. We meant to stop and grab some lunch, but spent hours walking around instead, taking in the sights. There’s something very elegant about the mis-matched buildings – the hoshposh of beautiful architecture speaks of many years of development and a thousand taste-makers making their mark. Rich wooden frames and lustrous paintwork sit next to derelict structures and industrial cranes; the city’s been under constant and ongoing renoavtion for some years, in a successful bid to create jobs and make the place visit-worthy. We loved the many colours, the sigh-inducing cathedral and the beer called Bolleke (we sniggered and we’re not ashamed to admit it). We also loved the two lonely sweet dispensers standing in the street.
