When Nicolai Kornerup and Hannah Schneider recorded their fist single, ‘Sommer’ in a basement in Copenhagen, they unleashed a lustful and seductive sound on Denmark as AyOwA. The track, about yearning for a Danish summer that never arrived, is full of melancholic vocals that make your knees wobble.

Whilst Danish might not be the most romantic of languages, Hannah Schneider’s whispering, throaty vocals are a provocative force to be reckoned with. Twinned with Kornerup’s reverberating production, it’s a blissful jam that we’ve got stuck on repeat.

One to file next to Aphex Twin, Darkside and Boards of Canada.
