Berlin is one of our favourite European cities; from the infamous nightlife and quirky bars to the delicious cafes and urban markets across the city. And let’s not forget the cheap beer. On our latest trip to Berlin, we took the train out to Lichtenberg to admire some of the colourful architecture.

Characterised by pre-fab high rises, there’s something dystopian about wandering around housing estates that were formerly the headquarters for the Stasi. Now, the buildings have been washed in hues of green, red, orange and blue. Children play football in the street and men mow their front lawns. Corner shops go about their business and couples stroll along the streets hand-in-hand. We took the opportunity to capture the brightly coloured toy houses of one of Berlin’s lesser known districts.
