Kaleo are a four-piece band from Iceland that defy categorisation. Our new favourites, they flit between rock, folk and blues with ease. Their debut LP, titled A/B is an ode to their multi-layered ability to flick between genres. Friends since school, the band is made up of lead vocalist JJ Julius Son, bassist Daniel Kristjansson, drummer Antonsson and guitarist Rubin Pollock.

The band’s LP is inspired by the A side and B side you find on vinyl. Julius Son says: “I write very different songs that many would like to label into different genres. The idea of A/B is to show the diversity and the two sides of the band.” Side A is packed full of rock and roll while side B is gentler and more ballad led.
