US@UO: RISE FESTIVALJanuary 5, 2017
US@UO is a behind the scenes peek into UO culture. Documenting what we get up to as a team, US@UO takes a look at the real people and real stories happening inside Urban Outfitters.
We had the opportunity to fly out to the breathtaking Les Deux Alpes in France for a week-long adventure of snowcapped mountains, music and partying at Rise Festival. Now in its third year, Rise is a unique blend of skiing and snowboarding by day, electro & grime by night.
Not only can you spend the whole week flying down the slopes, you can arm yourself with a pair of snowshoes and head up into the mountains for a cookout, take part in morning yoga classes while watching the sunrise or have a dip in a flotation tank.
Set across various venues around the site, the festival line-up was a mix of garage, grime, house and dance including headliners, Seth Troxler and Kano. The Main Stage popped up in the town square, flooded with skiers and festival-goers night after night. We headed down on the opening night to catch My Nu Leng and Kano.
Here’s what happened…
Days on the Slopes
Collecting our Rise festival passes for a week in Les Deux Alpes. Excitement didn’t cover it!
Theme park ride or ski lift? Dizzying heights and stunning visuals across snow-capped mountains and ice blue skies.
Early snowboarders hurl down the slopes in the morning sun as we reach the top of the mountain.
Don’t mind us, just having a moment.

Catching Monki play her set at Pano Bar with the sun sinking behind the mountains. We asked her for her Rise Festival packing essentials, ‘A decent pair of winter trainers, gloves, snood, sunglasses, proper socks!’ and the three things we could expect from her set: ‘fun, snow and dancing’.
Meeting the huskies
Just catching up with our new furry pals.
Opening Night at Rise Festival
