A WEEKEND WITH: @FABIENNEDENBERGApril 5, 2017
Weekends are the perfect time to do what you love and spend time with friends and family. We asked Amsterdam based blogger @Fabiennedenberg to pick up her camera and share with us her weekend routines: from pretty city streets in Amsterdam to her favourite cafes and hangout spots. Over to you, Fabienne…
On Saturday I had an open day in Amsterdam to attend for university. After waking up early to fulfil my smoothie bowl cravings with a delicious homemade acai bowl, my mom and I rushed out of the house to the car to get to the train station. We made it onto the train on time and found a spot to sit. That’s one thing you’ll learn when you visit the Netherlands; trains on Saturdays are packed with families, friends who are going out shopping and older couples. Anyways, we finally had some time to relax after our hurried journey and I could tell that this was going to be a beautiful day; the early morning sun was shining on my face while the movements of the wagon rocked me back and forth, nothing is more relaxing in my opinion.
We decided to walk to the open day, it was only 30 minutes away so totally doable. Of course, we didn’t get there in 30 minutes, because we came across all kinds of adorable places to take pictures at. (Amsterdam, you’re such a beauty!) Luckily we had over an hour to get to the school, so it wasn’t a problem. We came across a park with lots of Japanese blossom trees, which are at their best this time of year. So obviously I couldn’t resist getting my camera out.
I wore the most comfiest denim jeans, white tee and a denim jacket. The jacket is perfect for sunny days, it’s not too hot like a winter coat but still gives you a bit of extra warmth for that surprisingly cold spring breeze. I combined these items with white sneakers and a backpack to carry my camera and water bottle around in.

If you’re ever in Amsterdam, I would recommend stopping by Juice Brothers (they serve amazing acai bowls, juices and vegan treats) or SLA (where you can make your own salads) or grab a coffee or tea at ‘Wildernis’, a cute plant shop with a small cafe and a beloved hotspot for many bloggers.
We ended up feasting on pita with falafel at Moaz, which was super delicious. This place specialises in healthy, cheap, vegan fast food.
The rest of the day I enjoyed the warmth of the sun and did some drawing in my room. I got back into painting a while back and I love how you can just get lost in it without realising it.
The following day, after fixing myself a healthy salad for lunch, I went to the dunes/forest with my family, simply because it was another sunny day.
I had a super relaxing weekend, but I guess that was also because the sun was out the entire time. There’s something about the sunshine that does that to you! I also love spending quality time with family, going out to eat and taking some time off for myself (whether that’s painting and drawing, reading a book or watching a Netflix series).
