UO TRAVEL: TOURING THE ALPS WITH @FRAUKE_HAGENJune 26, 2017
From snow-capped peaks to curious cows and magnificent lakes, Frauke Hagen‘s road trip through the Alps looks absolutely dreamy. She talks us through her life on the road and her adventure through Germany, Austria and Italy; over to you, Frauke…
Last month I finally went back to the place my heart keeps desiring so much: the Alps! And to top it all of, we rented the cutest VW T3 Bus, a real gem!
The trip started in Berlin where we got our groceries and went straight to Vienna to meet up with some lovely friends.
After many laughs and good times the journey continued in the early morning hours and we finally reached the first mountains, looking down at us from the far distance.
We went deeper into the mountains and drove up to Loser Mountain on a rather rainy day just to be surprised by the most beautiful sunrise in the early morning.
I woke up at 4:30 am after having a nightmare and just wanted to breathe some fresh air, head straight to bed afterwards. Looks like nature wanted to soothe and calm my troubled mind a little.
How you will find me when I am on the road: smiling, with a hoodie, sneakers and beanie.
Hiding from the rain in the car.
Taking in the sun we made our way to one of Germany’s most famous lakes, the “Königsee”.
This looks more relaxing than it was but we had fun and that’s all that counts.
Moody conditions by the lake. It almost felt like nature was still asleep.
The famous little boat house which lies right next to a cozy cabin where they had the cutest little cows.
After spending a couple days in the German mountains, enjoying good food and chatting with friendly people the journey continued to Italy instead of Austria because the weather was meant to be better there. The weather was absolutely perfect but much colder than expected.

Better view than any five star hotel could ever offer.
Early morning we packed our things and went to the stunning lakes Italy has to offer. If lakes are your thing you’ll love this part of the world.
Famous view on Lago Di Braies. I went here during winter for the first time and am so glad I made it back.
Right after our little boat cruise on the Lago di Braies it started raining like crazy which meant it was time to go back to Austria and enjoy the last days of the journey there.
Magical moments between rain and sun in Austria. It’s still my favourite country.
Curious cows welcoming us in Austria.
Austria was full of the most beautiful flowers, they were literally everywhere.
Friendly horses enjoying their time in the sun.
Taking a deep breath watching the sunset.
