@hellooctober’s AW18 Picks

When it comes to my winter wardrobe, I always like to have a core set of basic pieces ready for the cooler months. White t-shirts and a great fitting pair of jeans form the foundation of most of my everyday winter outfits. Although I might convince myself I’m about to spend the next six months bundled up in heavy coats, British weather is so unpredictable and this often isn’t the case.

We’re now approaching the season where we’re constantly layering up and then swiftly undoing it all the second we step indoors. So, I always think it’s important to feel 100% confident in your outfit, whether you have your favourite statement jacket on or not.

Aside from that, a small army of jackets and coats is what I always look for in a great winter wardrobe. I think that’s the best way to show off your personality best during the colder weather.

One of my most favourite things about autumn winter is the rich tones and shades we see every year around this time. Whether it’s burgundy, khaki or rust, I just love the way they look on everyone! I’ve also noticed that there’s a lot of neutral tones around for AW18 too, which I’m really obsessed with right now. Tans, beige, khaki, I can’t get enough!

Even though we’re approaching autumn, I still love a midi skirt. I have a few of these in slightly different styles, including this beautiful free flowing printed maxi and this gorgeous allover floral midi, and I plan on wearing them with black ankle boots throughout the season ahead. I’ll be keeping the boho vibe alive even when the sun is nowhere to be seen!

When it comes to the new season, don’t be afraid to incorporate your summer clothes into your winter wardrobe. . Mixing your favourite summer dresses, denim jacket, jumpsuits and camis with last year’s cosy knits, sweaters and boots to create new, on season looks.

Of course, the peak of the Autumn/ Winter season is Christmas! It’s always such a busy time of the year for me and there’s no doubt that I’ll be working a lot, going to parties a lot and sleeping very little. I’ll sleep when we eventually get to January 1st! During the party season, I’ll be creating statement looks by mixing velvet textures and shimmer fabrications. This beautiful fit and flare jumpsuit and wonderful bodycon velvet mini dress will undoubtedly see me through!

When I’m lucky enough to enjoy real days off during the winter months, I won’t move from my bed (unless I’m going to the kitchen that is). Instead, I read, binge watch Netflix, order takeout and cuddle my beautiful little dogs – my Pomchi, Nala (I’m a Lion King fan) and my Pomeranian, Rory (after Rory in Gilmore Girls). During these well-earned lazy days, I’ll be wearing the comfiest loungewear so I can truly relax. These Tommy sweat pants and relaxed pullover sweater are perfect for doing just that.

Of course, my AW18 picks wouldn’t be complete without my much-loved Polaroid camera – it’s perfect for capturing memories throughout the festive party season! When it comes to displaying those photos, whilst I have tonnes of photo albums, my most loved polaroids often end up pinned on my fridge. Fridges can be real ugly (especially when you’re renting) so having my favourite photographs on the front almost makes me forget about the ugly appliance lurking behind them… almost.
